Be Ye Glad

picked up an old cd this AM by the group "Glad". I was looking for the song "Be Thou My Vision". Instead I got re-acquainted with the song "Be Ye Glad".

In my journey with Jesus, it is clear to me that many of you on the front lines of Ministry are hurting, frustrated, often feeling worn out, fatigued, and ready to give up. I spent the weekend with some folks like that. Good people, great hearts, on fire for Jesus--tired, beaten, worn out, ready to work at Wall-Mart (not a bad place to work, just not their calling).

Then the words of this song
for there is no disease or no struggle
that can pull you from God
be ye glad.

I know it often doesn't feel that way on the front lines. You have watched as friends turned into enemies...you have seen one time followers now abandoning their love for Jesus....you have seen once trusted colleagues no crushed under the weight of ministry leaving for the "management job" ...and you have seen supervisors and denominational folk become more irrelevant and less helpful...and you wonder, "is it worth it?"

YES...All of this is worth it...(that is a different song)

Oh, here are the words....
Words and music: Michael Kelly Blanchard 1980 by Paragon Music Corp.

In these days of confused situations
In these nights of restless remorse,
When the heart and the soul of a nation
Lay wounded and cold as a corpse

From the grave of the innocent Adam
Comes a song bringing joy to the sad.
Oh your cry has been heard and the ransom
Has been paid up in full, be ye glad

Chorus:
Oh, be ye glad, oh, be ye glad.
Every debt that you've ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord.
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad

So be like lights on the rim of the water
Giving hope in a storm sea of night
Be a refuge amidst the slaughter
Of these fugitives in their flight

For you are timeless and part of a puzzle.
You are winsome and young as a lad.
And there is no disease or no struggle
That can pull you from God, be ye glad

Oh, be ye glad, oh, be ye glad.
Every debt that you've ever had
Has been paid up in full by the grace of the Lord.
Be ye glad, be ye glad, be ye glad

Scriptural Reference:

"But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy." Isaiah 65:18 (KJV)
