Crazy Love, Francis Chan...a must read

""The American church is a difficult place to fit in if you want to live out New Testament Christianity. The goals of American Christianity are often a nice marriage, children who don't swear, and good church attendance. Taking the words of Christ literally and seriously is rarely considered." p. 68

Pastor Chan has written a great book to help people (especially American Christians) to move from lukewarm comfortable faith to a life giving faith. I resonate with so much of his work. There is little in boring church meetings, apathetic membership standards, pathetic worship services and boring preaching that inspires me (or most of the people I hang with). There is little passion in our lives of faith, little prayer, little intimacy and lots of demands to pay for mediocrity.

Chan has not just made a work of critique, he has also outlined a evaluative tool and ways that "normal, lukewarm American Christians" can find their way back to the God who loves them. In response to that love, we can live lives filled with God's presence, and we can care for those God has placed before us.

hope you experience God's crazy love this week.
