Living on A Prayer

Like so many things, if by prayer you mean "on your knees at your bed at 5 AM" well yea, that is hard, boring and mostly reserved for crisis type prayers, which is the majority type of prayers by many church goers...

If you mean holding a running dialogue with God all day long on every subject, and learning and developing your own prayer temperment (things I have learned by working with Terry Teykl www.renewalministries.com) , then I don't think so..

That running dialogue is such a crucial and vital part of my life...I have a constant companion who I bounce almost everything against almost all of the time...I don't rely on my intellect, I know it is not by intellect, power, latest fad, that God accomplishes so much...I mean look at the monastics...great stuff, all by themselves up in those retreat centers...for their whole life...but if that is all you do, how does the purpose or mission get accomplished....and the other extreme is just as dangerous--food lines, homeless shelters, feeding programs, without ever helping people experience the transforming power of God's love in Jesus...

That is where i find the running dialogue so important, practical and transformational...

So don't kick your self...discover your own prayer temperament and then enjoy the constant conversation.
